What is your business?Jinny B Liverpool Day Spa is based on Smithdown Road. Not your typical day Spa, we offer a relaxed, approachable environment for people... Our company Ethos is to make people feel and be the best they can be in a non judgemental Environment.
As well as regular beauty services we offer a complete Event Management service to both private and corporate clients. With over 15 years experience in the field, Jinny B offers a 'one stop shop' with inventive ways to entertain your clients or guests.
Why did you start it?
A large (but gorgeous) girl myself, I was very disillusioned with the Beauty Industry as a whole. I am sure many people can identify with the horrible sinking feeling you get when you walk in to have your nails, hair, spray tan done and the gorgeous (but uninterested) girl behind the reception desk gives you the 'what are you doing here' look! I was constantly hearing it from friends and relatives... they all felt the same, and felt they couldn't or shouldn't go for treatments due to their own insecurities. What rubbish... so Jinny B was born!
Having worked in the Beauty Industry and also having a Sales, Marketing and Event Management background I decided to utilise the skills and knowledge I had gained over the years. I launched the Day Spa on Smithdown Road in November 2008 and recently launched the Event Management side to the business.
I have linked in with a number of outside agencies, all specialists in their own field to provide services such as venue and transport hire, catering, bar services, audio visual equipment hire and much more.
What did you do before it?
I started working life as a Secretary, moving in to PA and Office Management. When my feet got tired I moved into Sales and Event Management and really enjoyed the competitive environment. My entrepreneurial drive pushed me to take a risk and open Jinny B... nothing ventured!
What makes your business unique?
We offer a number of unique services... a 19ft hot pink Manicure and Cocktail bar for one! Clients get their nails filed to perfection whilst watching a movie and having a cocktail or coffee with friends. Spa Pamper packages are a popular choice amongst men and women and are the perfect way to relax and de-stress at an affordable cost!
Corporate Services are becoming very popular with some very high profile clients. We offer treatments and pampering services either in the Spa or at a venue of choice coupled with food and catering services. Ideal for a Team Building, Client Appreciation, Employee Appreciation, Parties, and more…
We offer choices such as Sushi with manicures and Indian head massage - people love it as it breaks the tradition of limp butties and talking shop whilst waiting for the meeting to commence; don't forget - everyone always remembers the catering, so add a massage and make yourself stand out! With so much competition around make sure you stand out - be different.
What are your plans to contribute to Year of the Environment?
We have taken steps to ensure that all recyclable waste is disposed of correctly; we don't print emails, and run a digital office.
