08 businessconnect member New Mind opens office in Romania!
The Romanian office currently employs eight software developers who will work closely with New Mind’s UK development team on a daily basis. New Mind’s Timisoara office is strategically placed to support the company’s plans for Europe. Europe presents huge potential markets for many UK businesses and New Mind is no exception.Initial research indicates that strong demand exists for its Destination Management software and based on its successful six year track-record in the UK, the company appears poised to expand on this success into the European tourism market.
Managing Director, Richard Veal, said: “Romania is a fast developing country with a highly skilled workforce. There were bureaucratic obstacles to overcome and some cultural differences but on the whole the project has gone very smoothly.”
Timisoara is in western Romania and easily accessible by air from major European airports. It has a large Italian population who are attracted to the city due to the economic boom of the last few years.
New Mind has also appointed Tony Radford as International Business Development Manager, to be based in Romania, to help drive forward the European expansion.
Mr Radford said: “I have been based in Romania on and off since 1999. One of Timisoara’s advantages is its geographical proximity to other countries in the region, providing ready access to emerging Eastern European markets. Timisoara is closer to the four capital cities of Belgrade, Budapest, Sofia and Zagreb than to the capital of Romania and Vienna is less than 300 hundred miles away. “
As part of its policy of continual innovation New Mind is currently working on developing the second version of its DMS software and some of this work will be carried-out in Romania.
The New Mind Destination Management System (DMS) provides all of the tourism technology necessary for destination management organisations and tourism SMEs to co-ordinate their business activities. Since the system was developed in 2002, New Mind has established a major share of the UK market including the North West sub-regions of Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire the whole of the North East and much of the South East and South West.
