About Liverpool 2008
The Liverpool Culture Company was established in 2001, by Liverpool City Council, to lead the city's successful bid to be European Capital of Culture 2008.
After winning the UK nomination in June 2003, the Liverpool Culture Company was charged with co-ordinating and delivering the celebrations for Liverpool's 800th birthday in 2007 and the year-long programme for 2008.
